Some of the issues with FTP backup are now resolved with 5.1.0. Also new feature for 'Local Backup' is added in 5.1.0. This should meet the requirements mentioned. Changes for local backup are integrated with the following changeset - http://trac.vtiger.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/changeset/12111
